Elbert Nichols, 83, of Enigma died Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Golden Living Center in Tifton. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. James Tyson and Rev. Pat Suggs officiating. Mr. Nichols will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 12, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ricky Tucker, Clay Tucker and Joe Joiner will be among those serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Nichols was born on November 25, 1931 in Tift County and was the son of Ola Barnes Nichols and his step-father, Daniel Luther Luke, both deceased. He was retired from Tifton Aluminum Company. He was a member of Barnes Chapel in Enigma, where he served as the minister there for several years. He was a member of the Enigma Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Nichols is survived by his wife of 63 years, Annette Browning Nichols of Enigma; and one brother, Russell Luke of Enigma.
