Michael R. Abaire, age 49, of Brockton, formerly of South Boston, died January 10, 2015 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Boston, he was the son of Janet M. “Sally” (Muggridge) Abaire of Brockton and the late Richard P. “Bugsy” Abaire. He was a graduate of South Boston High School and had been a Fruit Peddler in South Boston, best known as the “Fruit Guy” at the Old Harbor Projects. Michael was known for his big heart, always giving and asking for nothing in return. As an animal lover, he would take in stray animals of all kinds. He enjoyed cooking, Science Fiction movies, ceramics and decorating for Christmas, which was his favorite holiday.
Michael was the father of Christopher and Danielle Abaire of Polk City, FL; grandfather of Michael D. Abaire; brother of David Lindsay-Abaire and his wife Christine of New York, and Janet Bennett and her husband Brian of Brockton; and uncle of Brenden and Tayla Bennett and Nicholas and Cooper Lindsay-Abaire.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday 2-6pm. Donations in Michael’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
