Obituary

Stephen R. Kellogg, 66, of Plainville and formerly of Franklin, died Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Maples Rehab and Nursing Center in Wrentham. He was the beloved husband of Maureen (Ferland) Kellogg for the past 40 years.

Born in Lewiston, ME on February 27, 1948, he was the son of the late Richard and Ruth (Sandberg) Kellogg.

Mr. Kellogg was a resident of Plainville for the past 40 years. He had formerly resided in Franklin, graduating from Franklin High School in 1966 and later received a Bachelor’s Degree from UMass-Amherst in 1974.

Mr. Kellogg enlisted in the Army in 1969, serving as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War and received the Bronze Star; 2 Overseas Bars; and an Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters and V Device (Valor).

Mr. Kellogg worked for the Veteran’s Administration from 1974-1987; MIT from 1987-1998 as an Associate Director of Purchasing and Stores; and then as a consultant from 1998-2013, most recently for Swissline Precision Mfg. in Cumberland, RI.

Mr. Kellogg played in the Canton Men’s Hockey League for many years and was a lifelong and avid Patriots fan. He was an early adapter to all kinds of technology and computers, was an avid gardener and liked to travel.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter Kaitlin Grenier and her husband Jonathan of Norton and was the father of the late Daniel Kellogg.

He is also survived by one sister Susan Jastremski of Hopedale, three brothers, Charles Kellogg of California, Brian Kellogg of Swansea and James Kellogg of Easton and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Bradford Kellogg.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Friday, January 16 at 10 a.m. in St. John’s Episcopal Church, 237 Pleasant Street, Franklin. Burial with military honors will follow at Union Street Cemetery in Franklin.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 -8 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main Street, Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).
