Josephine A. “Jo” Della Pelle, 84 of Medford, died Friday after a long illness in the Sawtelle Hospice House, Reading.
Born in Boston, she resided in Medford since 1953 and was formerly of the North End of Boston. She was the daughter of the late Josephine (Baglio) and Joseph Fontana.
Josephine was a Salesclerk at the former Ames Department store in Medford for many years.
Beloved wife of 62 years to Mario Della Pelle. Devoted mother of Kathleen Doucette and her husband Paul of North Andover, Edward Della Pelle of Medford and the late Paul Della Pelle. Loving grandmother of Sherilyn Kasper and her husband Jon, Kristin Healy and her husband James and Gregory Doucette. Sister of Rose Villanucci and her husband Benny of Medford, Joseph Fontana and his wife Helen of Saugus and the late Nunzio, Rocco, Vincent, Rosario Fontana. Sister in law of Andrew Della Pelle and his wife Christina and Edie Fontana all of Medford. Also survive by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Wednesday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
