Obituary

Gary Howard Wiggins, 61, of Tifton went to rest in the arms of the Lord on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2015, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. C. J. Hullett and Rev. William Goff officiating. Mr. Wiggins will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 10, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Tony Howell, J. R. Howell, Kerry Wiggins, Jody Wiggins, Fernando Plaza and Joey Underwood will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Timothy Guy, Lamar Guy, Bill Goff and Willie Dillard.

Mr. Wiggins was born on May 22, 1953 in Bullock County and was the son of Joe D. Wiggins and Emma Powell Wiggins, both of Tifton. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters-in-law, Thomas and Ann Wiggins of Tifton, Diane Wiggins of Effingham County and Ellen Guy of Baldwin County. Mr. Wiggins was a retired truck driver. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a family man, who loved spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing guitar and was an avid player at Unity Tabernacle in Tifton. He was a member of several singing groups throughout the years. He also enjoyed fishing with his sons and brothers. Mr. Wiggins was always eager to help those in need.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wiggins is survived by his wife of 41 years, Helen Howell Wiggins of Tifton; his children and their spouses, Karen and Earl Lasseter of Tifton, Teresa and Victor Gil of Moultrie, Larry Delaney of Tifton, Dennis and Christine Wiggins of Tifton and his adopted daughter, Andrea Ferrell of Canton; his siblings and their spouses, Ronnie and Martha Wiggins of Bryan County, Wayne and Jean Wiggins of Jenkins County, Dennis and Hazel Wiggins of Effingham County, Timmy and Linda Wiggins of Tift County, Tony Wiggins of Baldwin County, David and Wanda Wiggins of Tifton and Jerry Wiggins of Tift County; 21 grandchildren; and five great-granddaughters.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, Tift County Chapter, P. O. Box 7514, Tifton, GA 31794.
