Ethel J. Fletcher, of Foxborough, died Jan. 4, 2015. She was 87 years old.
She was the loving wife of Charles M. Fletcher for 56 years. She is survived by her son James Fletcher and his wife Francine of Foxborough, daughter Janet Szarmach and her husband David of Stratham, NH, and grandchildren, Madeline, Jack, Thomas, Stephanie, and Kimberley. She was the sister of Alfred C. Thomas, Jr., and Helen M. Wesley.
Ethel graduated from the Mt. Auburn Hospital School of Nursing in Cambridge, and was a member of the US Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II. For many years she worked as a nurse at South Shore Hospital and was also active in her church and community.
A memorial service will be held at First Parish Church Unitarian Universalist of Kingston, 222 Main St., Kingston, on January 17 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Shore Hospital Charitable Foundation, 55 Fogg Road, South Weymouth, MA 02190-2455.
