Obituary

Robertson W. "Bob" Kane, 85, of New Bedford died January 6, 2015 unexpectedly at home.
He was the husband of Mary O. (Ottavianelli) Kane.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Parker E. and Elsie (Robertson) Kane, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Kane was a active communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church where he was a lector, and was a member of the Men's League and choir.
He was formerly employed by New Bedford Gas and Edison Light Company for 32 years until his retirement. Mr. Kane also worked at Vermette Liquor Store for 20 years.
He was a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, the Sons of Italy, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Andrews-Dahill Post 1531. Mr. Kane was past president of New Bedford Jaycees.
He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Zellers.
Mr. Kane helped Dr. John Laverty establish the blood bank at St. Luke's Hospital. He was an avid Boston Bruins and Green Bay Packers fan.
Survivors include his wife; 2 daughters, Margaret Kane of South Dartmouth and Annemarie Kane of New Bedford; a son, Peter M. Kane and his wife Kelly of New Bedford; a brother, Douglas Kane of New Bedford; a grandson, Maxwell Parker Kane; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Saturday at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
