Janis C. (Marin) Johnson-Chisholm,79, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015 in her home with her family at her bed side.
She leaves her beloved husband of almost 48 years, Donald S. Chisholm, Her sons; Philip F. Johnson, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Charlton, Dennis S. Johnson and his wife Joyce of Worcester, Donald A. Johnson of Worcester, David P. Johnson of Charlton, Eric M. Chaffee and his wife Jamie of Northborough, Timothy C. Chisholm and his wife Ann Marie of CT., John D. Chisholm of Spencer, and Matthew J. Chisholm of Southbridge, her daughters; Alberta M. Woodcock and her husband Peter of Worcester, Lisa B. Law and her husband David of Charlton, DianeSue Reil of Webster, Michelle A. Chisholm of Spencer, Katherine S. Jones and her husband Ian of Kansas City, MS., Jennifer M. Darmarin and her husband Joe of Fitchburg and Jennel M. Chisholm of Boxford, 32 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, a sister, Maureen Brooks of Webster, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Loretta Janis Johnson, and 2 brothers, Michael J. Shannon and Berton R. Marin.
She was born in Rumford, Maine October 7, 1935 a daughter of the late J. Dennis and Irene M. (Allen) Marin-Shannon.
Janis lived in Charlton for 30 years before moving to Sturbridge 7 years ago.
Janis loved the ocean and lighthouses.
She was a foster mother for the Department of Social Services for over 30 years; having over 100 children come through her home. She was a member of Mass. Association for Retarted Citizens and St. Joseph’s Church.
She fought a long battle for many years with diabetes and cancer.
Calling Hours for Janis will be Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 5 – 8 PM at the ROBERT J. MILLER-CHARLTON FUNERAL HOME, 175 Old Worcester Rd., Charlton.
The Funeral will be Friday, January 9, 2015 with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 10 H-Putnam Rd., Ext., in Charlton, Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
