John A. “Jack” Ennis age 80 of South Easton, formerly of Brockton, died Sunday January 4, 2015 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Mary C. (Kiney) Ennis and the late Jean (Beede) Ennis.
Jack was born and raised in Brockton, a son of the late John P. and Stella (Turner) Ennis. A 1952 graduate of Brockton High School, Jack had lived most of his life in Brockton before moving to South Easton 6 years ago. Jack was a Korean War Veteran who served in the Air Force. He retired from Merriman’s Inc. as a machinist where he worked for many years. Previously he worked for General Dynamics at the Fore River Shipyard in Quincy until it closed.
Jack enjoyed model airplane construction and flying with his W. Bridgewater friends. He also liked to read, fish, hunt and take long walks. In recent years he began to travel. Jack will be remembered as a gentle and lovable man who enjoyed family get-togethers.
Jack was the father of Kathleen Cutter of Newton, Linda Blackmon of Medfield, Lt. Col. Robert Ennis of Pensacola, FL and Mary Ennis of Brockton. He was step-father to Debby Marcroft, Lydon, Paul and Merri Gauthier, grandfather of 6, and brother of Raymond Ennis of Raynham.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte. 123) Brockton on Thursday 5-8 pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Friday at 9 am for a Funeral Mass in Holy Cross Church, South Easton at 10 am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
