Carol C. (Carey) O’Donnell, 81, of Franklin formerly of New Haven Connecticut, died January 5 in her home. She was the wife of the late Edward J. O’Donnell Jr. who died in 2005.
Born in New Haven Connecticut, September 22, 1933, the daughter of the late Edward C. and Mary (Doody) Carey, Mrs. O’Donnell had lived in the New Haven area for most of her life prior to moving to Franklin eight years ago.
A, Registered Nurse, Mrs. O’Donnell was a graduate of St. Raphael’s School of Nursing. She continued working at St. Raphael’s for many years before retiring.
Mrs. O’Donnell was a Seton Associate of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth.
Mrs. O’Donnell took her greatest pleasure being with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Maureen O. Spillane and her husband Todd of The Woodlands, Texas, Kathleen O. Walker and her husband James of Coventry, Connecticut, Edward J. O’Donnell III and his wife Paulette of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Ellen A. O’Brien and her husband Kevin of Franklin.
She is also survived by her brother H. Robert Carey and his wife Mary Frances of Francestown, New Hampshire and was the sister of the late Edward Carey, Marie Ball and Paul Carey.
Mrs. O’Donnell is also survived by her grandchildren, Caroline, Sarah, Caitlin, Patrick, Liam, Kayla, Connor and Edward.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, January 8 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin at 11:15 followed by a funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church at Noon.
Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery, New Haven on Friday at 11:00a.m.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m.
