Obituary

Lemuel J. Hall, 83, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, January 5, 2015 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.

Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Michael Ruffin officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Hall was born October 27, 1931, in Nichols, Georgia, to the late Calvin C. & Ida Marie Young Hall. He served his country honorably in the National Guard. He retired as a conductor with CSX after 42 years of service in the railroad. An avid golfer, Mr. Hall was a past president of the former Fitzgerald Country Club. He was a former member of the Fitzgerald Elks Club and loved watching football. He was baptized in the Church of the Nazarene and loved spending time with his faithful companion, Riley.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan F. Hall; his children: Kathy Tinley and her husband Lawton Tinley, Lamar Hall and his wife Sarah Hall, and Beth Hall-Turner and her husband Mark Turner, all of Fitzgerald; his grandchildren: Melissa Cowan & Daniel, Allison Nicolelli & Justin, Natalie Hall, Mallory Tinley, Grant Turner, and Evan Turner, all of Fitzgerald; his great-grandchildren: Matthew, Caden, and Brooklyn Cowan and Lane Nicolelli; a brother, Lewis Henry Hall & Linda of St. Simons Island; a nephew, K & Shelly Hall of Brunswick; a niece, Amanda & Dewey Snipes of Brunswick; a great-nephew, Brett Hall; and his last cousin, Ruth Burkett of Fitzgerald. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Bobby Lamar Hall and a granddaughter, Lana Michelle Harper.
