Obituary

TAUNTON – Joseph H. “Indian Joe” Dreis, husband of the late Constance M. (Nolen) Dreis, died peacefully at Morton Hospital on Jan. 3, 2015.
He was 89.
Born in Dighton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elise L. (Yerrington) Dreis.
Mr. Dreis attended Dighton and Taunton schools, and later served on the USS Idaho in the Navy during WW II.
He received the WW II Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon with 6 Stars, and the Philippine Liberation and Combat Action Ribbons.
He was employed by International Chemical Industries as an industrial chemical custodian for thirty-five years, retiring in 1987.
He was a communicant of St. Mary Church and a member of the VFW Post 611.
He leaves two nieces, Kathleen Rego and Marcia Tripp; three great nieces, Lyndsey Sylva, Rebecca Gomaa and Shannon Rego; a great-great niece, Sophia; and two great-great nephews, Andrew and Jeffrey.
He was also brother of the late Raymond Dreis, James Dreis and Doris Heneghan.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, Jan. 8th at 8:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the Mass. National VA Cemetery in Bourne.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
The family will be receiving visitors at the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. prior to the mass.
