Hazel C. Delk, 94, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, January 5, 2015, at her residence.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. John Cubas officiating. The family will receive friends at Paulk Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Delk was born February 22, 1920, in Monroe County, North Carolina to the late Joseph & Rachel Rebecca Boone Aycock. She earned her GED and moved to Fitzgerald in 1960 from Charlotte, North Carolina. She worked as a telephone operator for Southern Bell and was the first female to retire from that position in Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her grandchildren: James Larry Delk, Jr, of Houston, Texas, Troy Alan Delk of Panama City, Florida, Janel & Carl Pitts of Fitzgerald, and Amanda & Jesse LaBelle of San Antonio, Texas; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Van Delk; a son, James Larry Delk; five brothers and four sisters.
