Albert A. Fontaine, 71, of Acushnet died January 1, 2015 at home surrounded by his family celebrating his birthday.
He was the husband of Carol F. (Pereira) Fontaine with whom he shared 47 years of marriage.
Born and raised in New Bedford, he was the son of Ida (Poirier) Fontaine of Fairhaven and the late Joseph A. Fontaine. He lived in Acushnet for the past 35 years.
Mr. Fontaine was formerly employed by Polaroid Corporation for many years until his retirement. Prior to that, he was employed at Sippican, Inc.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, Foxwoods and he was an avid Boston Bruins fan.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; 2 daughters, Debbie Cassidy and her husband Michael of New Bedford and Karen Elias and her husband Stephen of Acushnet; a sister, Sandra Reale and her husband Stephen of Acushnet; a brother, Michael Fontaine of Narragansett, RI; 3 grandchildren, MacKenzie Cassidy, Nathan Elias and Marissa Elias; and many nieces and nephews.
His visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, January 7th from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Road #400, Waltham, MA 02451.
