Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Jeannine M. (Banville) Letendre, 88, of the Sixteen Acres section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Friday, January 2, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life from her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Drummondville, Province of Quebec, Canada on November 29, 1926, a beloved daughter of the late Albert J. and Jane M. (Henry) Banville. She was raised in Canada and moved to Springfield in 1947. Jeannine was a longtime cook and housekeeper at Saint Joseph Rectory in Springfield. Most of all, she was wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. Active in her faith, she was a longtime communicant of the former Saint Joseph Church and currently was a communicant of Saint Catherine of Siena Church, both in Springfield. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Romeo J. Letendre who was Called Home on February 15, 2008. They were married in Drummondville, P.Q., Canada on June 29, 1946 and were blessed with over 61 years of happiness together. She leaves her four loving children, Denis J. Letendre and his wife, Sandra, of Quebec City, Canada, John C. Letendre and Debra, of Springfield, Suzanne M. Oakes and her husband, Bruce, of Boston and Lorraine M. Borlen and her husband, Edward, of West Springfield; her nine cherished grandchildren, Christiane, Greg and Daniel Letendre, Jacqueline, Chantel and Jean Claude Letendre and Danielle, Nicole and Brandon Oakes; her two cherished great-grandsons, Jason Turner and Cameron Liquori; her two dear brothers, Gaetan Banville and Jacques Banville and his wife, Lise, all of Drummondville, P.Q., Canada; her six dear sisters, Rachel Charlebois of Holyoke, Jacqueline Lamothe of Drummondville, P.Q., Canada, Rejeanne Petit and her husband, Marcel, of Springfield, Berangere Bourbeau of Chicopee and Murielle Cayer and her husband, Andre and Fernande Ricard and her husband, Claude, all of Montreal, P.Q., Canada; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended members of the Letendre and Banville families. Besides her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by her dear brother, Raymond Banville. Her funeral will be held on Thursday morning, January 8, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Catherine of Siena Church, 1023 Parker Street, Springfield, MA 01129. Her burial will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road,Springfield, MA 01129. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Her family has requested that memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, (specify Springfield), 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
