Gene Andrikowich, 86, of Goffstown, died January 1, 2015 at St. Teresa Health Care Center after a period of declining health.
He was born in Manchester on May 19, 1928 to Dimitri and Anna (Pipala) Andrikowich. He lived in Manchester for most of his life before moving to Goffstown in 2001. He graduated from Central High School and attended St. Anselm College.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1950.
Gene worked for Mutual of Omaha Life Insurance Company and as a social worker for the State of New Hampshire for many years.
He played semi-professional baseball and later coached youth baseball. He enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was a member of St. Joseph Society at St. Hedwig Church and the American Legion.
The family includes his wife of 58 years, Doris A. (Guillemette) Andrikowich of Goffstown; five sons, Michael Andrikowich and his wife, Denise, of Indiana, John Andrikowich and his wife, Lisa, of Deerfield, Peter Andrikowich of Manchester, Paul Andrikowich and his wife, Cindy, of Bedford and Thomas Andrikowich and his wife, Cathy, of Whitinsville, MA; 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, January 5, 2015 at St. Hedwig Church, corner of Beech and Orange streets, Manchester. Committal prayers followed at St. Hedwig Cemetery, Bedford.
