George F. Wilson
WW II Navy Veteran
TEWKSBURY: George Francis "Bud" Wilson, age 94, a resident of Tewksbury for 38 years, formerly of the Lawrence area, passed away at the D'Youville Senior Care Center in Lowell on Thursday, January 1, 2015.
He was the beloved husband of Eileen F. (Hartigan) Wilson, who passed away on July 3, 1999.
Born in Lawrence on December 7, 1920, he was the son of the late George G. Wilson and the late Julia A. (Keenan) Wilson.
George was raised in the Lawrence area, attended Lawrence schools and graduated from Lawrence High School.
In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. During World War II, he served aboard the U.S.S. Ranger. He was awarded several decorations for his military service including the American Area Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two Stars , the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Sales Representative for the Food Enterprise/Merchandise Company. George previously worked for the Educator Biscuit Company.
A resident of Tewksbury since 1976, he was a communicant of St. William's Parish.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing his weekly round of golf at the Tewksbury Country Club with his friends and family members.
George is survived by three children, Sharon M. Wilson of Hampton, NH, George G. "Garry" Wilson and his wife Sue of Nashua, NH, and Rita M. Macomber and her husband Harold "Hal" of Thornton, NH; six grandchildren, Christopher Wilson and his wife Hillary Irons, Patrick Wilson and his wife Michelle, Julie Bisognano and her husband Jay, Michael Macomber and his wife Deanndra, Ryan Macomber and his wife Jackie and Garrison Macomber and his fiancé Kendra Rosenberg; two great grandchildren, Benjamin Wilson and Annabel Macomber.
George was the brother of the late Eileen W. Sweetra and the late John "Jack" Wilson.
Calling hours are Sunday, Jan. 4, from 2-6 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Monday, Jan. 5, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Oblate Infirmary, 486 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA 01876.
