DUDLEY: Barbara M. (Metterville) White, 87, of Pierpont Road died Tuesday, Dec. 30 in Radius Healthcare in Southbridge after an illness.
Her husband of 41 years, James R. White died in June. She leaves a son Raymond R. Wedge and his wife Mary of Spencer, two daughters Cheryl A. Boucher and her husband Robert of Spencer, Kimberly J. Gregoire and her husband David of Rutland, a step-daughter Ingrid White of Detroit, MI, a brother Henry Metterville of West Brookfield, two sisters Irene Mezejewski of Pittsfield and Evelyn Contestabile of Spencer, 7 grandchildren; Nicole, Monique, Darryl, Joseph, Hilary, Christopher & Jeremy, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a step-son Ronald White, a grandson Robert Wedge and two sisters Marion Khoury and Dorothy Butkiewicz.
Mrs. White was born in Worcester, daughter of Henry and Mabel (Strom) Metterville. She was a cosmetologist at Denholm & McKay for many years before retiring. She was a longtime Avon representative earning the Presidential Albee Award on several occasions. She was a member of the New England Photographic Society. She enjoyed reading and cooking.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Jan. 3 at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church Street, Spencer. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105. J.
