Obituary

Rene E. Gingras, 92, of Derry, NH, died Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in Parkland Medical Center in Derry. He was born in Lawrence, MA on January 30, 1922, a son of the late Odilon and Amelia (Ouellette) Gingras. Mr. Gingras had been a resident of Derry for the past 39 years, formerly living in Lawrence. He proudly served his country during World War II in the US Army and received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star during his time in the service. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Gingras enjoyed attending the symphony and opera. He also enjoyed reading and traveling. Most of all, he loved the time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters, Christine Beaudoin and her husband Mark of Merrimac, MA, and Celeste Hall of Barrington, NH; four sons, Ronald Gingras and his wife Susan of Windham, NH, Raymond Gingras and his wife Cindy of Methuen, MA, Richard Gingras and his wife Debra of Quinton, VA, and Roger Gingras and his wife Barbara of Salem, NH; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and one brother, Leo Gingras of Salem, NH; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, Theresa (Soucy) Gingras in 2013 as well as three sisters and two brothers.
Following cremation, a graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 2:00pm in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rene’s memory to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 or at www.dav.org. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry is assisting the family with arrangements.
