Obituary

Worcester - Doris E. (Backman) Tripp, 90, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of John D. Tripp, Jr. (d. 2010) to whom she was married for 63 years. She leaves two sons John D. Tripp III and his wife Pam of Worcester, and Gary P. Tripp and Christina A. Martin of Hollis NH; two grandchildren, Kristine Healy and Michael Tripp; six great-grandchildren Patrick, Alysha, Tiffany, Katelynn, Shannon, and Brianna; and six great, great-grandchildren Gabriel, Bethanie, Noah, Rosealeigh, Jaedriel, and Kaiden; and many nieces and nephews.

Doris was born in Worcester, daughter of Clara E. (Sjodin) and Philip Backman and was a graduate of Commerce High School. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and enjoyed her job as a cafeteria worker in the Worcester public schools. Beyond doting over her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Doris enjoyed traveling with John and spending time with their many friends and acquaintances in South Florida and particularly at their summer camp in Templeton, MA.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 10, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will be at All Faiths Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 41 Whitmarsh Avenue, Worcester MA 01606.
