Obituary

James M. Haworth, 97, formerly of Acushnet died December 30, 2014 peacefully at New Bedford Health Care Center.
He was the husband of the late Helen (Kelly) Haworth.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Milton R. and Catherine (Meehan) Haworth, he lived in New Bedford before moving to Acushnet in 1956.
Mr. Haworth was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church.
He was formerly employed at the Acushnet Company until his retirement and prior to that in the meat department at A&P for 14 years.
Mr. Haworth was a life member of the Americale Division Veterans Association and served for 2 years in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Camp Charles Smith in Waterbury, VT. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign ribbon and the Philippine Liberation ribbon with a bronze service star.
Survivors include his son, James M. Haworth, Jr. of New Bedford; a daughter, Christine Haworth of Gulfport, FL; a sister, Patricia Baty of St. Petersburg, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Catherine Haworth, Mary Best and Esther Kelly.
His Funeral will be held on Friday, January 2nd at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of one's choice.
