Obituary

Antone M. Gomes, son of Manuel and Isabel Gomes, passed away at the age of 92 after a brief illness on December 26, 2014. He was a lifelong resident of New Bedford who proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a lifetime member of the Andrews-Dahill VFW Post 1531. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jackie (Mattos), and brother Joseph Gomes of New Bedford; his daughter Donna Solomon; his son Antone Gomes Jr. and his companion Paula Faye; his sons-in-law Ronald Barboza, Sr. and Bruce Duarte Sr.; his eleven grandchildren, Liesa Duarte Williams, Bruce Duarte Jr., Joey Duarte, Terri Duarte, Kelly Joyner, Ronald Barboza Jr., Barika Barboza, Bianca Barboza, Adia Barboza, Tyler Gomes, and Kyle Gomes; 19 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his daughter Helen (Gomes) Barboza and son-in-law Philip Solomon.

Tony was a generous man who will be greatly missed and forever remembered by those whose lives he touched.
