Dorothy C. (Ramos) Livramento, 90, of New Bedford died December 30, 2014 at Alden Court Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.
She was the wife of Edwin L. Livramento.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Eva (Souza) Ramos, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
Mrs. Livramento was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
She was formerly employed as a sales clerk at W.T. Grant Department Store in Downtown New Bedford for many years until its closing. She had also worked at Walmart in Fairhaven.
Mrs. Livramento was a member and past president of the Cape Verdean American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary. She will always be remembered for her love of baking, cooking and travel.
Her family would like to thank the staff (her extended family) at Alden Court for the compassionate care that she received as a 15 year resident.
Survivors include her husband; 2 sons, Edwin Livramento, Jr., and Michael Livramento, both of New Bedford; 5 daughters, Sandra Grace and Betty Ann Livramento, both of New Bedford, Debra Livramento of Bowie, MD, Lisa Livramento of Silver Springs, MD, and Melody Beedles and her husband V.J. of Atlanta, GA;her daughter-in-law, Denise Livramento of Washington, DC; 2 brothers, Alfred Ramos and his wife Rose of Leicester, and Leonard Ramos and his wife Deborah of New Bedford; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Lawrence Livramento and the sister of the late Norman Ramos, Joseph Ramos, Jr., Blanche Ramos, Josephine Andrews, Alice Silva, Joan Monteiro and Kenneth Ramos.
Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
