Marie D. Fisher of Raynham, a longtime resident of Westwood, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on the evening of December 29, 2014. Marie was 67 years old. Mrs. Fisher was the wife of the retired Pastor Donald Fisher of Raynham. She leaves behind her children; Pastor Donn Fisher and his wife Alisa of Raynham, Michelle Raley and her husband Scott of Pennsylvania, Derek Fisher, and Melanie Attardo and her husband Joshua of Raynham. Marie is survived by her 8 grandchildren; Tyler, Abigail, Michael, Trevor, Thatcher, Gianna, Sofia and Christian. She will be also remembered and loved always by many dear friends.
Marie was born on October 20, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan and was raised by her parents the late George and Mildred (Thomas) Plastas in Buffalo, NY. She met her husband of 45 wonderful years; Donald, during her junior year of high school and the two would be married after attending college. Mrs. Fisher was employed by the MetroWest Newspapers Group for over 25 years and retired from the company as a supervisor. She became involved in the Westwood public school system as a volunteer Lunch Room Monitor at the Downey School. Marie was later hired full time as an aide. She was awarded by the Massachusetts Teacher’s Association for her commitment and 20 years of service to the schools of Westwood.
Mrs. Fisher was an avid walker and she was a committed “Pastor’s Wife” as she supported and was incredibly involved in the churches in which Donald served and attended; most recently the Calvary Chapel in Raynham. Children were a love of Marie’s and she helped many through the church’s Nursery and Children’s Ministry. Along with her love for children was the love Marie had for her family, as family was her everything.
Cremation will take place at Woodlawn-North Purchase Crematory in Attleboro. A Celebration of Life will be held at her church, Calvary Chapel, 1002 Broadway in Raynham at 10:30am on January 17, 2015.
