Blazena K. “Blanche” (Lorencova) Vodicka, age 81, of Brockton, died December 27, 2014 at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital following a brief illness. She was the loving wife for 62 years of Bohuslav Vodicka. Blazena was born, raised and educated in Kladno, Czech Republic, daughter of the late Julius and Blazena (Bohata) Lorenc. Blazena had been a resident of Brockton since 1971, and was employed at the Brockton Hospital for 17 years. She and her husband were long time members of the Ayer Gun and Sportsmen’s Club, Standish Sportsman’s Association, Summerset Sportsmen’s Club and the New England Chapter of the Masaryk Club, a Czech club in Boston. She enjoyed spending time with her family, ballroom dancing, gardening, fishing, cooking and music.
In addition to her husband, Blazena is survived by two daughters Anna Sogard and her husband Bruce of Phoenix, AZ and Bohuslava Silva and her husband Stephen of Belcamp, MD, six grandchildren Michael, Anthony, Stephanie, Jonathan, Eric, and Alex; four great grandchildren Gionni, Lillian, Saydee and Fisher; a brother Zdenek Lorenc; a sister Jana Smidova and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Jirina Vodicka.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Wednesday 9am-11am followed by a funeral service at 11am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery. Donations in Blazena’s name may be made to the LUNGevity Foundation, 218 S. Wabash Avenue, Ste 540, Chicago, IL 60604.
