Obituary

CHICOPEE – Jeannette L. “Jean” (Duguay) Deshaies, 84, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, December 26, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life from the Atrium at Cardinal Drive in Agawam surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on November 1, 1930, a beloved daughter of the late Euclide C. and Juliette (Croisetiere) Duguay. She was raised and schooled in the Flats section of Holyoke and lived in the city for many years before moving to Chicopee. She was employed for 46 years at the former American Pad and Paper Company in Holyoke and retired around 1994. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her dear brother, Leo G. Duguay, who was Called Home on October 24, 2007. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Lawrence J. “Larry” Deshaies. They were married on September 17, 1955 at Immaculate Conception Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 59 years of happiness together. Besides her husband, she leaves her sister-in-law, JoAnn Duguay of South Hadley; her two nephews, Christopher Duguay of Alaska and Jay Duguay of West Springfield; her niece, Katy Anderson of Wilbraham; her grandnieces, Kaya Duguay of Alaska and Jessica Anderson of Wilbraham. In addition, she also leaves brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces of the Deshaies family. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, December 30, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning, December 30, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. before the Mass.
