Obituary

Mariner W. “Red” Grant, age 73, of Brockton, died December 25, 2014 following a period of failing health. Red was the loving husband for 47 years of the late Louise A. (Moquin) Grant, who died December 11, 2014. Born in New Brunswick, Canada, Red was the son of the late Horace and Catherine (Wade) Grant. He was raised and educated in Pembroke and had been a resident of Brockton for the past 30 years. For 18 years, he had been employed by Hallamore Transportation Company in Holbrook. He was a member of the Rough Riders of Hanson, and had been a Youth Baseball Coach in Whitman. Red enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, gardening, fishing, and was a fan of all the New England sports teams.
He is survived by his children Kim-Marie Ryan of Whitman, Corey Grant of Arlington, and Joan Terry and Lauren Belmont both of Brockton; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren, two sisters Faye Thomas and Marjorie Douthwright both of Canada and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Gathering will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Saturday, January 3, 12-3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, 275 Grove St., Ste 3-102, Newton, MA 02466.
