Obituary

Augusta, GA – Nancy Elizabeth Padgett, daughter of Sue Buck Padgett, and the late Robert Padgett passed away Friday afternoon, December 26, 2014 in University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Martinez Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Winsett and Rev. Mr. Joe Soparas officiating. Interment to follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Nancy was educated in the Columbia County school system, graduating from Evans High School in 1985. Nancy graduated from Augusta State University in 1989 with a degree in History. She taught in local private schools for several years. Nancy was a member of Martinez Baptist Church where she served as church clerk for several years. She also enjoyed teaching third and fourth graders in Vacation Bible School. Nancy was currently serving on the missions committee of Martinez Baptist Church. For about ten years Nancy sang with the Harmony River Chorus of the Sweet Adelines. This activity was especially enjoyable for Nancy as she sang with this chorus in several venues as well as in the region. When Nancy was twelve years old, she joined the International Order of Rainbow for Girls advancing through the local assemblies’ offices and earning the degree of the Master of the Grand Cross of Color. She served as Grand Recorder of Georgia and Grand Representative of Georgia to Tennessee and Indiana. Nancy progressed from Rainbow Girls to the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron of Elizabeth Chapter. Nancy served as Grand Representative to Saskatchewan. She loved the women’s organization of the Masonic Order earning the Gold Seal of Proficiency in 1991.

Nancy is survived by her mother Sue; one sister, Molly Boyleston (Peter); one nephew, Tyler Boyleston; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Active pallbearers will be Ed Guyer, Jimmy Mize, Joe Price, Larry Davis, Bruce Sammons, and Epps Hewett. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Masons, the Order of the Eastern Star, and Joe Price’s Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, December 29, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
