Claire H. Guy died Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Hunt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Danvers, following a long illness. Born and raised in Mont Carmel, Quebec, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie-Luce (Duval) Francoeur.
Claire graduated from high school at the Convent of Good Pasteur in Riviere-du-Loup, Quebec. She came to Salem in 1945 and attended Salem Commercial School. In later years she worked for AT&T which became Alcatel-Lucent, from which she retired in 1992. She was an avid golfer and walker. She liked to oil paint, cook, bowl and travel. She had a strong love for her family in Canada and the United States.
She is survived by a son, Jeffrey P. Guy and his wife Ann of Salem, a daughter, Jane A. Guy of Salem, a sister, Lucille Levesque of Mont Carmel, Quebec, Canada, her grandson, Jason Guy and his wife Sarah, grand-daughters, Danielle Guy-Pickett and her husband Daniel, Michelle Haidaczuk and her husband Sean, and her great-grandchildren, Justin Guy, Kelsey Pickett and Mila Haidaczuk, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Carmelle Blaydes, Cecile Francoeur, Leonie Richison and Loretta MacLean and brothers, Albert, Fernand, Laurent & Lionel Francoeur and Benoit Francoeur, who was the first Salem resident to die in the Korean Conflict. She was the former wife of the late Paul P. Guy of Sebago, ME.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 8:30 to 10:30 A.M. in the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem to be followed by her funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Blvd., Salem at 11:00 A.M.
