TEWKSBURY: Mary M. (Ritchie) Hinckley, R.N., age 89, of Chelmsford, a former longtime Tewksbury resident, passed away at the Edgewood Retirement Community in North Andover on Wednesday, December 24, 2014.
She was the beloved wife of Albert "Dan" Hinckley, who passed away on July 30, 1998.
Born in Wilmington on February 26, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Gardner Ritchie and the late Rose (Porter) Ritchie.
Mary was raised in Wilmington, attended Wilmington schools and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1943.
Following graduation, she attended St. John's Hospital School of Nursing, from which she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1946.
Prior to her retirement in 1990, Mary worked at the Tewksbury Hospital and the former St. John's Hospital in Lowell.
Mary resided in Tewksbury for over 50 years until moving to Chelmsford.
She is survived by three daughters, Dianne Hinckley of North Andover, Susan Tracy and her husband Stephen of Chelmsford, and Jane Halprin of Arlington, VA; seven grandchildren, Peter Tracy and his companion Eleni Kalafatis, Ben and Mark Tracy, Rachel Moffat, Tracy Keen and her husband Robert, John Moffat and his wife Courtney, and Amanda Halprin; three great grandchildren, Julia and Aaron Keen, and Brian Moffat; two brothers, Robert Ritchie and his wife Elaine of Tewksbury and John Ritchie of Wilmington; one sister, Pauline McCue of Nashua, NH; her brother-in-law, David Hinckley and his wife Barbara of Tewksbury; also many nieces and nephews.
Mary was the sister of the late Charles Ritchie.
Calling hours are Sunday, Dec. 28, from 4-7 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be held Monday, Dec. 29, at 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m., at St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 150 Appleton St., Lowell, MA 01852 or to the Lowell Humane Society Animal Shelter, 951 Broadway St., Lowell, MA 01854.
