Obituary

Mrs. Ruth E. (Almeda) Guillemette, of Taunton, died Thursday, December 25 at her residence following a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert J. “Abby” Guillemette. She was born 85 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late John and Dorothy A. (Hawkins) Almeda. She was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. A homemaker, Ruth was a member and Past President of the David F. Adams Post # 611 Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She excelled in embroidery, crosstitch, and knitting. Ruth was famous for her embroidered pillowcases and tablecloths and was an accomplished cook, known for her Portuguese soup. All who visited her home were well fed. She especially loved her children, grandchildren, great grandson and her pets. She was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish.
She leaves: three sons: Albert R. “Abby” Guillemette of Taunton, Peter A. Guillemette and his fiancée, Nancy A. LaFleur of Assonet, John P. Guillemette and his fiancée, Dawn Dumas of Taunton; four daughters: Lynda M. Rose and her husband, Philip Kane of Plymouth, Jane Pittsley and her husband, Floyd of Berkley, Frances Jackson and her husband, David of Taunton, and Rita Copeland and her husband, Thomas of Taunton; honorary daughter, Pauline Arguin of Taunton; one brother: Richard Almeda and his wife, Barbara of Raynham; seven grandchildren, one great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Monday, December 29 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Sunday, from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M.
