Robert Gary (Robi) Klein, 67, of Ojai, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2014. He is survived by
his loving wife, Jeanie Murphy, two loving children, David and Evan Klein, and a sister, Eva Hain Klein.
Robi was born on August 31, 1947, to Slovakian Jewish parents in Germany after the Second World War.
After spending time in a refugee camp for survivors of the Holocaust, the family lived in Amsterdam for nine years and then emigrated to the United States, finally settling in Los Angeles. Robi received a M.A. in Sociology at Chico State University and moved to Ojai with his first wife Kristi Heath in 1972. Robi was the Assistant County Clerk Recorder under Robert Hamm and subsequently became the County Risk Manager until his retirement in 2002. Robi was a life-long artist and avid painter. He co-founded RoRo Publishing, an Ojai based greeting card company, which showcased many local artists. His other interests included Buddhism, architecture, gardening, design, and world music. Loved by his friends and family for his generous spirit, caring heart, and genius sense of humor, he was a loving prankster of the grandest scale.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, January 4, 2014 at The Healing Center, 206 North Signal Street, Ojai, CA 93023.
