Obituary

NORTH DIGHTON – Paul E. DeMoura, beloved husband of Donna (Adams) DeMoura, died at his North Dighton home on Dec. 23, 2014.
He was 67.
Born in New Britain, CT, he was the son of the late Alfred and Shirley (Leroux) DeMoura.
Paul was the former Highway Superintendent of the Town of Dighton, having worked for the town from 1976 until his retirement in 2008.
There was no one more dedicated to his job than Paul, always there when a call came in.
Serving as a reserve police officer when Chief Spratt was in charge, he especially enjoyed his shifts at the Rehoboth Fair.
Paul was a mechanical wizard, and proved it by building race cars in the late 60’s and 70’s.
He built custom cruising autos, naming them as he built them.
“Half Breed” was the first cruiser, a 1954 Chevy with a Ford engine, then his ‘64 Galaxy, “Blue Heaven”, a ‘49 Chevy pickup, and his last, a ‘38 Plymouth.
A member of Bay State Street Machines, Paul enjoyed cruising all over New England, making for some of the best times for him and his wife.
He continued his love of autos with his sons, helping both Derek and Chris with the building of race cars, with Chris getting his fair shares of wins, and almost as good at repairing cars, thanks to his guidance of his dad.
If anyone had a question about building a race car, they would ask Paul.
Paul also helped build many of the Christmas displays at the Dighton Town Hall, including the snowman and the train that Santa arrives in during the parade.
He was a great dad involved in raising his four sons, coaching little league, Junior Bowlers; and bike and car racing.
He was always there for them.
In addition to his wife of forty three years, Paul leaves four sons, Paul A. DeMoura and his companion Julie Andrews of Wareham, Dwayne DeMoura and his fiancé Sandy of Lowell, Derek DeMoura and his companion Danielle Ancillo, and Christopher DeMoura and his wife Danielle, all of North Dighton; a sister, Barbara Morey and her husband Joseph of Taunton; six grandchildren, Samantha Woods, Jacob, Drew, and Darby, Brynn and Joshua DeMoura. He is also survived by Jerry Williams of Plymouth, CT.
Memorial services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday, Dec. 27th at 2:30 p.m.
