Obituary

Mary Catherine (McDonell) Giampietro of Norwood, Ma died peacefully surrounded by family after taking ill on December 20, 2014 at Beth Israel Hospital. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late James Edward McDonnell and Mary (Campbell) McDonnell.
Mary was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of Saint Mary’s Church in East Walpole. Some of her favorite leisure activities included: bowling, bingo and ‘the slots.’
She was Irish by blood and throughout the years warmly embraced her heritage with open arms.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Warren J. Giampietro and her loving and only James A. Giampietro.

She was the sister of John and Kathy McDonnell of Stoughton, Eileen (McDonnell) and George Shackley of Medfield, Michael and Judy McDonnell of Dedham, the late James and Ann McDonnell of Cape Cod, and the late Patricia (McDonnell) O’Ginski. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her adopted grandson Paul O’Ginski.

Services will commence on January 3, 2015 at 10 am at Saint Mary’s Church on Washington St. in East Walpole. Celebration of life will be held after the service at the Italian American Club on 109 Stone St. Walpole, MA.
In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital,501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Jimmy Fund, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
