Ida Atkinson
Augusta, Ga - Entered into rest on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at University
Hospital, at the age of 91, Mrs. Ida White Rox Atkinson, wife of the late
John A. Rox, Jr. and the late Melvin Atkinson.
Mrs. Atkinson was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. She was a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She retired after 30 years as a Math Teacher for the Richmond County School System.
In addition to her husbands, Mrs. Atkinson is predeceased by her parents,
William O. White, Sr. and Margaret Videtto White; by her daughter, Carolyn
Louise Rox, and her son, Frank Thomas Rox; by her brothers, Dr. William O.
White, Jr., and Jack Bates White; and by her sisters, Dr. Betty W. Bailey,
and Margaret W. Weatherwax.
She is survived by two sons, John A. Rox, III and wife Linda; Robert W. Rox
and wife Mary; grandchildren, John A Rox IV; Catherine Rox Shepherd and
husband David; Erin L. Rox; great-grandchildren, Madeline Shepherd, Lydia
Shepherd, Samantha Rox, Claire Rox, and Owen Rox VanBuren.
The family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers at Brandon Wilde,
The Arbor; and her special companion, Ida Warthen.
A graveside service at Westover Memorial Park will be held on Friday,
December 26, 2014 at 3:00 p. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside
