Framingham: Delbert Anna (Wiener) Rogers, 89, died peacefully and comfortably on December 20, 2014. She was the loving wife for 60 years of Morris Rogers of Framingham.
She was born in Havertown, PA on December 8, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Charles and Delbert (Bellamy) Wiener and sister of the late Charles and Paul Wiener.
She was a graduate of Haverford Township High School and received her BS in Chemistry from Penn State University and was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. She was employed at the Army QM Research and Development Laboratory in south Philadelphia before transferring to the Pioneering Division of the Army Natick Laboratories in 1954. She worked at the Natick Labs for several years before leaving the work force to raise her family.
Del was an active communicant of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Framingham for over 60 years and served as Directress of the Altar Guild, Treasurer of the St. Elizabeth League, Church librarian and was an active volunteer at Cushing Hospital and Hemenway School Library. She was an avid gardener and spent many years perfecting her expertise growing wild flowers and African Violets. She also served as a tour guide at Garden in the Woods in Framingham.
Besides her husband Morris Rogers of Framingham, she is survived by her sister Jeanne Vannicolo and her husband Francis of Newtown Square, PA. She was the mother of Stephen Rogers and his wife Cyndy of Upton and Nancy Welch and her husband John of Wayland. Grandmother of Jennifer, Daniel and Jeffrey Rogers, Timothy Welch and his wife Sarah and Lauren (Welch) Becker and her husband Sean. She also leaves great-grandchildren Gianna, Nolan and Raegan Welch along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitations will be held on Friday, December 26, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Route 30), Wayland.
A Requiem Eucharist will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 3 Maple St (corner of Main St and Maple St - Buckminster Square), Framingham, MA 01702.
Interment will follow in the Rogers family lot in Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation in Del’s memory may be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
