Obituary

Theresa Ann (Gaffney) Hanlon, 80, of Medway formerly of Franklin, died December 20 surrounded by her loving family in her home. She was the wife of John Lawrence Hanlon for over 58 years.
Born in Elwood, Indiana, January 19, 1934, the daughter of the late John and Viola (Bradley) Gaffney, Mrs. Hanlon lived in Franklin raising her family from 1958-1984, then they moved to Medway where she and her husband John resided until a few months ago.
Theresa always wanted to be a mom and an “outstanding mom”, is how her children all feel about her. Her greatest passion was cooking. She always looked forward to the next family occasion where she would plan weeks ahead for just the right combination of recipes for the food she would lovingly make. One of her greatest joys was creating a “cookbook” that she passed on to her children and grandchildren of her favorite recipes. In addition to cooking, she also enjoyed playing bridge and looked forward to her weekly games. She was exhilarated when she won, even if it was only a quarter!
In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, John (Jack) Hanlon and his wife Cathy of Glen Gardner, New Jersey, Mary Jane Hanlon of Lexington, Lisa Bussolari and her husband Michael of Medfield, Maureen Novak and her husband Dale of San Antonio, Texas, Marcia Hanlon of Concord and Mark Hanlon and his wife Tracy of Saratoga, New York.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lauren Senter, Courtney Rogers, Michaela Hanlon and John Hanlon III.
She was the sister of the late Patrick Gaffney and Jon Gaffney of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
