John S. DeSouto, 87 of Somerset, passed away Dec. 22, 2014 after a brief illness. He was the former husband of Verna (Botelho) DeSouto and the son of the late Manuel and Diamentina (Farias) DeSouto. Prior to retiring, John was the Owner & Founder of DeSouto Barber-Stylist of Somerset. He also worked for New England Power Co. as an Electrician. He was a US Navy Veteran of WW II and a parishioner of St. John of God Church.
In addition to his former wife of Somerset, he is survived by his sons: John DeSouto (wife Janice) of Westport and Daniel DeSouto (wife Jean) of Swansea, 2 grandsons: Jason DeSouto (wife Melissa) & Justin DeSouto (wife Brenda) of Somerset, 3 great grandchildren: Austin, Kylie, & Amber DeSouto, his sisters: Francis Alexander of Somerset, and Madeline Carmody of CT, several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joseph DeSouto, Mary Alvares, & Leonora Moniz.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on WEDNESDAY, Dec 24th with visitation from 8:45-10:15 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church, Somerset at 11:00 A.M. Interment in Nathan Slade Cemetery, Somerset. There Are No Other Calling Hours.
