Obituary

Mary Frances Cannon Honeycutt of Tifton, and formerly of Dunwoody passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 21, 2014. She was 82. She leaves a long list of family and friends, who loved her dearly. She was born in Pelham, South Carolina on January 27, 1932 and was raised in Greer, South Carolina, where she lived a happy life surrounded by a large family. She married Cecil Adolf Hester in 1950 and had two children, Ben and Pete. After his death, she married Jerry L. Honeycutt and lived in Greenville, South Carolina, where their son, Lee, was born. In 1968, they moved to Dunwoody in the Atlanta area, where they lived for 40 years. Frances was a member of Dunwoody Baptist Church and was a founding member of the Dunwoody Woman’s Club. She worked at the Church’s preschool for many years, where she influenced the lives of so many children. Her beaming smile, laughter and loads of southern charm brought her tons of friends, including neighbors, church and work friends, and her special Al-Anon family, which gave her comfort, support and true friendship for more than 30 years.

Frances was the supreme homemaker, providing a beautiful home and the most delicious meals. She loved cooking, gardening, wildlife, antiques, beautiful music, road trips that took her to quaint, out-of-the-way places, as well as fantastic trips to Europe. She found joy in all that life provided and thanked God every day for what he gave her. She was a strong Christian and found great comfort in God’s love.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Cecil Hester and Jerry Honeycutt; parents, Claude and Mary Cannon; sister, Margaret Addyman; brother, Tommy Cannon; great grandson, Colton Hester; and nephew, Chris Cannon.

She is survived by her sons, Ben Hester (Amy), Worthington, Ohio; Pete Hester (Debbie), Woodstock; and Lee Honeycutt (Marci), Tifton; six grandchildren, Lauren, Daniel (fiance Brittany), Caitlin (Evan), Maggie, Hunter and Madison; sister, Shirley Madden, Greenville, South Carolina; and numerous in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to the wonderful staff and sitters of Maple Court Senior Residence and the caregivers of Southern Care Hospice. She was loved like family by all of them.

A celebration of Frances’ life will be held in Dunwoody at a later date.
