William Lee Futch, 68, of Tifton died Saturday, December 20, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his family. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. Mr. Futch will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 22, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Kenny Futch, Allen Futch, Keith Futch, Carl Tyson, Chris Tyson, Jamie Parrish, Dr. Kirk Paulk and Ricky Davis will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jody Branch, Johnny White, David and Jeannie Kelley, Chris Goodman, Dan Royal, Odell Chaney, Will James, Dave Powell, Cole Benson, J. H. White, Joe Tinsley, Sandy Reeves and Kevin Warner.
Mr. Futch was born on February 1, 1946 in Hahira and was the son of Kenneth Lee Futch and Thelma Ollie Martin Futch, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Futch; and his father-in-law, J. Carlton Tyson. He attended school in Norman Park and worked in the automotive service and parts business for 34 years. He loved and cared for his family, first and foremost. In his retirement, he loved being outdoors, farming and NASCAR andi could always be counted on for telling a good joke.
Mr. Futch is survived by his wife, Jo Lynn Tyson Futch of Tifton; two daughters, Melinda “Mendy” G. Futch of Tifton and Kayla L. Futch of Atlanta; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley Warner and Ricky Davis of Leesburg, Florida; a sister-in-law, Robbie Nell Futch of Portland, Tennessee; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Danny and Jan Tyson of Tifton; his mother-in-law, Billie J. Tyson of Tifton; and eight very special nephews and nieces, Kenny Futch, Allen Futch, Keith Futch, Angela Phillips, Kevin Warner, Kelly Kendrick, Carl Tyson and Chris Tyson.
