MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA: Urban O. “Andy” Anderson, 82, died Saturday, December 20, 2014 in the Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Gloucester. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn M. (Hull) Anderson.
Born in Roslindale on October 13, 1932, he was the son of the late Bror and Inga Anderson. A graduate of Roslindale High School, he had resided in Roslindale for many years before moving to Manchester-by-the-Sea forty years ago.
Andy was employed as a signal engineer for the MBTA for many years before his retirement due to ill health. He loved geography and enjoyed studying maps. He prided himself for having a photographic memory and knew all the back roads from Cape Ann to Cape Cod.
In addition to his wife of over forty years, he is survived by his sister, Anna Pettersen of Sweden; a brother-in-law, Robert Hull; sister-in-law, Priscilla Herdman and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be privately held at the convenience of the family.
