TAUNTON – Manuel R. Lima, husband of Maria F. (Brito) Lima of Taunton, died at Morton Hospital on Dec. 16, 2014 at the age of 75.
Born in Terceira, Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel T. and Eva C. (DaCosta) de Lima.
Mr. Lima lived in the area since 1959.
A retired shoe cutter, he was employed by the former Corcoran Shoe Company for over twenty years.
Mr. Lima was a communicant of St. Anthony Church and a member of the Holy Ghost Society.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, clamming, playing cards with his close friends and traveling, especially to the Azores.
He also enjoyed making homemade wine.
His favorite pastime was enjoying the company of his family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Lima leaves a son, Daniel R. Lima and his fiancé Marina Pires of Taunton; a daughter, Jo Ann Lima and her fiancé Miguel Cadete of Taunton; two brothers, Carlos Lima of Coral Gables, FL and George Lima of St. Petersburg, FL; a sister, Dolores Areias of Brandon FL; three grandchildren, Robert J. Maturo, Michael D. Lima and Zachary J. Fitzgerald; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Robert Lima.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday, Dec. 22nd at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Dec. 21st from 6 to 8 p.m.
