Doris A. (Legere) Hayes, 96, of New Bedford died December 9, 2014 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home.
She was the wife of the late John J. Hayes.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Stanislaus and Ida (Gautreau) Legere, she lived in this area all of her life.
Survivors include her son, Robert J. Hayes of Beacon, NY; two daughters, Joan M. Hayes Wood of Westport and Patricia M. Hayes of New Bedford; four grandchildren, John A. Wood, Charles H. Wood and his wife Kate, and Elizabeth H. Wood, all of Westport and Anna H. Pittman of California; and a great-granddaughter, Eloise Jane Wood.
She was the sister of the late Madeline Langis, Stella Bourgeois, Sister Agnes of St. Joseph, Cedelia Legere, and Aurore Beadsworth.
Her Private Funeral Service was held yesterday at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. For online guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
