Vera Mae Reed, 99, of Anderson died on December 12, 2014 at Miller's Merry Manor in Chesterfield following an extended illness.
She was born on February 9, 1915 in Anderson to Ernest and Amanda (Fish) Ridgway.
She was a homemaker and helped at Reed Shoe Store for over 40 years. '
She attended Madison Park Church of God; Volunteered at Community North Nursing Center and with Girl Scouts. She enjoyed her family, grandchildren, and traveling.
She is survived by her 7 children, Phillip (Marcia) Reed of Jackson, MS, Tom (Sandra) Reed of Grove City, OH, Larry (Joyce) Balser, Ronnie (Sylvia) Reed, Kenneth (Joann) Reed, Morris (Connie) Reed, and Shirley Valentine all of Anderson; Daughter-in-law, Kay Reed of Anderson; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph P. Reed Sr.; Son, Ralph P. Reed Jr.; 2 grandchildren, Angie Reed and Mark Reed; brother, Thomas Ridgway and sister, Helen Young.
Services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Rev. Phil Reed officiating. The burial will take place in Nelson Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00pm on Monday, December 15, 2014 at the funeral home.
