TAUNTON – Felicita “Fela” (Rodriquez) Aponte, wife of the late Apolinario D. “Polo” Aponte, died in Taunton on Dec. 10, 2014.
She was 80 years old.
Born in Patillas, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Marcelo and Aleja (Velazquez) Rodriquez.
Educated in Puerto Rico, she was a Taunton area resident since 1956.
A retired packer, Mrs. Aponte was employed by Nabisco for many years until 1987.
She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.
In her spare time, she enjoyed bingo, camping and watching baseball.
Survivors include six sons, Raymond Aponte of Fort Myers, Florida, Edward, William, Edwin, and Albert Aponte, all of Taunton, and John Aponte of Somerset; five daughters, Theresa Maltorell, Susan Mello and Cynthia Thomas all of Taunton, and Marlyn Rose and Rosemary Sikorski, both of East Taunton; 21 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was the also the grandmother of the late Samantha Mello.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Tuesday, Dec. 16th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 15th, from 5 to 8 p.m.
