Obituary

Dionissios Drakodaidis, 62, of Worcester, passed away Tuesday, December 9th at Evangelismos Hospital in Athens, Greece while on vacation. He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Bessie (Ziogas) Drakodaidis; his daughter, Aliki(Drakodaidis)Sofis and her husband, William John Sofis; his parents, Konstantinos and Aliki Glavas; his two brothers, Philippas Drakodaidis and Athanasios Glavas, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. His biological father, Philipogiannis Drakodaidis, and his parents-in-law, George and Kaliope Ziogas predeceased him.

Dionissios was born in Argostoli, Kefalonia, Greece, and immigrated to the United States in 1983. He served in Greece’s Special Forces and Merchant Marines, and worked at Steris Isometics in Marlborough until 2008. Dionissios loved life, lived his without regrets, and lit up his family’s lives with his infectious smile and laugh. He enjoyed travelling, biking, technology, and grilling; above all else, he valued his family and helping others.

His funeral is Wednesday, December 17th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 11:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, December 16th from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
