Janet T. (Horsford) Kilburn, 87, died peacefully and comfortably at her residence in Wayland on Friday, December 5, 2014 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Milton on March 10, 1927 the daughter of the late Ernest R. Horsford and Margaret J. (Campbell) Horsford Piper.
Janet is survived by her daughter Andrea K. Pettersen and her husband Eric Rolf Pettersen and her son Andrew W. Kilburn. Grandmother of Whitney Pettersen; Drew Kilburn, Jr. and Christian Kilburn. Also survived by her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Kilburn.
Janet has been a resident of Wayland for 60 years and spent her earlier years in Milton. She graduated from the Katherine Gibbs School for Girls in Boston and was a secretary in Boston before her marriage.
Janet loved the outdoors and spending time on her property in Wayland gardening, planting and enhancing her home. She was devoted to caring for others whether it be family members or friends and was active in many capacities at the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Wayland. She taught Sunday school, was involved in the missions and the soup kitchens as well as the alter guild of the church. She spent countless hours caring for the well being of others. Her family was the most precious gift in her life and she was devoted to them.
At the request of her family, funeral services will be private.
In lieu of flowers her family suggests that memorial gifts in Janet’s memory be sent to the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 53 Cochituate Road, Wayland, MA 01778.
