Robert Austin Norcross, Jr., 63, of Newton, went to be with the Lord peacefully and comfortably surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 8, 2014 following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Boston on March 9, 1951 the son of the late Robert A. Norcross, Sr. and Constance V. (Murphy) Norcross.
Bob is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years whom he met in high school, Dorothy L. (Allen) Norcross of Newton formerly of Wayland. Beloved father of Laura Norcross Godfrey and her husband Christopher of Natick; Karen Norcross Price and her husband Joseph of Newton; Sarah Norcross Ehrhorn and her husband George of Wayland; Kathryn Norcross Mackey and her husband Daniel of Newton; Alaine Norcross of Newton and Andrew Norcross of Alpharetta, GA. Brother of Kenneth E. Norcross of Norwood. Also survived by 7 cherished grandchildren.
Bob has resided in Newton for 40 years and spent his formative years in Wayland where he graduated from Wayland High School with the Class of 1969. He received his BS in Electrical Engineering in 1973 from the University of New Hampshire. He was an electrical engineer for many years and was the proud third generation owner of Norcross Corporation of Newton which was founded by his grandfather Austin Norcross.
He traveled extensively throughout China and enjoyed hiking throughout the United States. For many years he was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America and continued throughout his adult life as a volunteer.
Bob was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather to his family who were the center of his life.
At the request of his family, visitations and interment at the Norcross family lot in Newton Cemetery will remain private.
A Memorial Service celebrating Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 2:00 pm at The River Church, 17 Spruce Street, Waltham.
Bob had a strong and committed faith to his Lord Jesus Christ his entire life. His family warmly requests that in lieu of flowers during this special and holy season that Bob be remembered by performing acts of kindness and grace to others.
