Obituary

Harry J. Woodward, 66, formerly of Woonsocket died peacefully Wednesday evening in Warwick surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of the late Barbara Ann (Desautell) Woodward who passed away in 1998.
Born in Woonsocket he was a son of the late Prentiss and Barbara (Gambell) Woodward. He was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mr. Woodward was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
Following his service Harry was employed as a steeplejack for International Chimney Inc. and also worked for Coast-to-Coast construction. He was a member of the Italian Workingman’s Club and enjoyed collecting coins and knives.
Harry will be remembered for his unique sense of humor and the tough as nails exterior that covered his soft and good natured inner self. All those who knew Harry will agree that he was “A DAMN GOOD MAN”.
He is survived by three sons Eric D. Woodward of Woonsocket, George and Edward Lamaire both of Warwick and a daughter Kim Lamaire of Central Falls. He was the brother of Gail Cooper of Ledyard, CT and the late James Woodward. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, including Kyle Woodward of Woonsocket, 5 great-grandchildren and 4 nephews.
His funeral will be Monday at 9:00am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Precious Blood Church, Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Sunday from 1:00-5:00 pm.
