Obituary

Billey Joe Wilder, 79, devoted husband and loving father, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on December 8, 2014.

Bill was born April 12, 1935 in Pineville, KY and at the age of 8, moved to New York City, where he would meet the “Love of His Life”, Ruth Rappold.

He joined the Marine corps at the age of 17 and upon returning from Korea, he married his beloved Ruth. They would move to Louisville in 1956.

Bill was retired from the United States Postal Service, a Korean War Marine Veteran and had worked in the Louisville area for 20 years as a radio Broadcaster for WINN, WTMT, WKLO and WVEZ radio.

He also served in the Navy, Army, and Air Force Reserves, receiving an Honorable discharge from each branch.

Bill was a member of Springdale Presbyterian Church, Boaz Masonic Lodge # 850 F&AM, Kosair Shrine, a Kentucky Colonel, and a Deputy Sheriff In Jefferson County.

Bill was a loving husband and cherished his beloved wife Ruth (Kitten) for 60 years. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth and four children, Holly Black (Donald), Dawn Giles (Robert), Austin Wilder, and Jared Wilder (Alicia); as well as eight wonderful grandchildren, Emily,Matthew, Tracy, Ian, Rachel, Blaine, Sara, and Ashley.

A Celebration of Life service will take place Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Springdale Presbyterian Church, 7812 Brownsboro Rd. Doors Open at 1:30 PM.

Expressions of sympathy are requested to be given to Kosair Charities or Springdale Presbyterian Church.

Cremation was chosen and inurnment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery.
